September 08, 2023  /  WineBros

Chalk Hill
McLaren Vale, Australia

Chalk Hill (Chalk Hill in Australia, Wits End in USA!) is a family owned, organic practicing wine company dedicated to making small batch, hand crafted wines of distinction. The Harvey family grape growing heritage goes back six generations and they have six vineyards spread across the McLaren Vale wine region. The vineyard was first planted in 1897 and these century old vines still bear fruit today. It is the Harvey family commitment to make wines that reveal the unique place that is McLaren Vale, and that show their efforts from the vineyard to the bottle. Wines are only released in years that pass muster of quality and varietal integrity.

Bodegas Gracia

Montilla-Moriles, Spain

Bodegas Gracia was founded in 1950 by Francisco Gracia. The vineyards are located in the top quality areas of Montilla-Moriles -Sierra de Montilla and Moriles Altos- plus a few hectares in Santaella, near Aguilar de la Frontera. Bodegas Gracia has its own winemaking facilities including old American oak butts and 100 large casks each containing 1,500 litres.

Bodegas Gracia produce Fino, Amontillado, Oloroso and P.X. in a classic style following traditional winemaking and without the need of fortification. In 2021, Gracia Hermanos released a unique edition of Montearruit Amontillado Viejísimo. Aged for 75 years, only 1,080 small bottles of this Single Cask Solera are bottled each year, a truly limited edition for collectors.

Montilla-Moriles

Corredera Fino

100% Pedro Ximénez

The wine’s colour is strong, but not excessively so and lets us perceive a refined style, already displaying the large proportion of Cabernet Franc in the blend. The nose is expressive on notes of fruit and lots of spice; it reveals ripeness and is very fresh. On the palate, this wine is charming, with surprising fullness, smoothness and also a lot of depth.

Montilla Moriles

Graciano Pedro Ximénez

100% Pedro Ximénez

Amber color with intense aromas of heather honey, raisins and dates. Young and fresh, it is easy drinking with a good balance of sweetness and acidity.

2016 Chateau Breillan

Haut-Médoc Rouge

Merlot, Cabernet Franc

Clad in a beautiful ruby red with deep purple tints, this 2016 offers an intense, fresh bouquet with a hint of spice, red fruits and cherry. Mouth filling, chewy tannins on the palate, which lingers to a balanced, superbly unctuous finish. Certainly a great success in this great vintage.

2019 La Dame d'Angludet

AOC Margaux

50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 10% Petit Verdot

Finesse, elegance and complexity are the watchwords of 2019. We find the expression of the terroir that we look for each year in Angludet. Beautifully balanced, combining purity and structure, the wine displays great capacity to age well for a great number of years.

The 2019 is a beautiful illustration of the Angludet style : generous and gourmand.
