Barolo from Silvano Bolmida!
Silvano Bolmida
Piedmont, Italy
What could be harder than finding an unknown Barolo producer with old vines in Bussia that is considered by many of the top names in the industry to be a “Maestro”, “Professore”, or, as Alessandro Masnaghetti described him, “Il Barolista dell’Anno 2012”? We do not know the answer to that question, but we managed to do it and we could not be prouder and more excited to introduce the wines of Silvano Bolmida to the Mid-Atlantic. Founded in 1999 with 2ha, his holdings now consist of 7.4 in Bussia including Vigna dei Fantini, which is the highest elevation site in Bussia and sits directly on above the famed Pianpolvere Soprano. Silvano has been making his wines in the garage of the house where he was raised. In fact, he was born in the room above what is now the cellar. The first vintage was produced in 2003. Silvano earned his enology degree from the school in Alba and has been a full-time professor for more than 20 years. Silvano’s children, Alessandra and Francesco, have now joined him and they are truly producing some of the most striking wines we have tasted from Barolo. These wines are produced in tiny quantities and are very limited.

100% Nebbiolo
Ripe notes of mixed berries and cherry candies, toasted cedar, pressed flowers, and sweet herbs. It has a medium-bodied frame on the palate, with ripe concentration and good freshness, as well as refined tannins.
