Happy National Pasta Day!

October 17, 2022  /  WineBros

Happy National Pasta Day! We hope you have some of this to accompany your favorite pasta with red sauce!

2018
Palmento Costanzo
Etna Rosso
“Mofete”

Sicily, Italy

This medium-bodied and structured wine packs notes of bright berry fruit and the strikingly dusty, ashy notes that are considered a part of the terroir’s dark, volcanic intrigue. Mofete conveys assertive but welcoming fruit, aromas reminiscent of olives and star anise as well as floral tones like a handful of violets, and a subtle acidity that keeps things moving across the palate. This is a superb introduction to Etna Rosso.

New from Bodegas Valdemar!

Bodegas Valdemar

Rioja, Spain

A story of wine that begins back in 1889 with Joaquín Martínez Bujanda, the first generation of this winery saga who at the time was already making wine in Oyón, the family’s native town. His son Marcelino followed in his steps, as did his grandson Jesús who, along with his son of the same name, and currently chairman of the winery, set up Bodegas Valdemar in the 1980s.

At present, Jesús Martínez Bujanda, fourth generation, along with his children Jesús and Ana, fifth generation, continue to forge ahead in their eagerness to surprise and enchant consumers with novelties that offer that something personal, that distinguishing touch. The pioneering gene that drove Jesús Martínez Bujanda to break the mould back in the 1980s by producing emblematic wines such as the first white wine fermented in barrels, and who later went on to launch the first Maturana and White Tempranillo varietal wines, has clearly been inherited by his children, Ana and Jesús. Both of whom are responsible for expanding the winery’s horizon by disembarking in Walla Walla (USA), thus becoming the first non-American winery to set up there.
