Frank Cornelissen Olive Oil!

November 06, 2023  /  WineBros

Frank Cornelissen
Sicily, Italy

“Our farming philosophy is based on our acceptance of the fact that man will never be able to understand nature’s full complexity and interactions. We therefore choose to concentrate on observing and learning the movements of Mother Earth in her various energetic and cosmic passages and prefer to follow her indications as to what to do, instead of deciding and imposing ourselves. Consequently this has taken us to avoiding all possible interventions on the land we cultivate, including any treatments, whether chemical, organic, or biodynamic, as these are all a mere reflection of the inability of man to accept nature as she is and will be. The divine ability to understand the ‘Whole’ was obviously not given to man as we are only a part of this complex and not God himself.”

In the winery his work follows the same philosophy of using what nature provides him. There are no industrial yeasts, sulfites, or anything else added to the wines. All of the wines are fermented in small, neutral tanks and no wood is used in the cellar in order for all the wines to express their specific territory to the full extent. Frank uses neutral epoxy tanks and anforas because he likes the round shape which allows the wines to be nourished with the fine lees moving freely during the aging process.

New from Valdemar Estates!

November 03, 2023  /  WineBros

Valdemar Estates
Rioja, Spain

In 1889, Joaquin Martínez Bujanda began the family winemaking tradition in Oyón, a small town in Northern Spain. His son, Marcelino, and his grandson, Jesús, followed in his footsteps. Jesús' son, Don Jesús Martínez Bujanda, created Bodegas Valdemar in the 1980s.

His son, Jesús Martínez Bujanda (5th generation), is the current CEO of the family’s winemaking business, and his sister, Ana Martínez Bujanda, is the Cheif Operations Officer for Bodegas Valdemar.

Jesús fell in love with the Walla Walla Valley while he was a student at the University of Washington. His passion for winemaking and for the valley led him to create Valdemar Estates.

Jesús lives with his wife, Conchita Sánchez Sarabia, and his two children, Teresa and Jesús (6th generation), in Walla Walla. Since then, we have created some of the finest examples of Spanish wines at Bodegas Valdemar. Today, Jesús Martínez Bujanda and his sister, Ana Martínez Bujanda, represent the fifth generation to lead the family business. Together, they opened Valdemar Estates, the first internationally owned winery in Washington state. It is here where they are making their mark on the family’s legacy of innovation while pursuing their passion for wine.

'Conde de Valdemar'
Tempranillo Blanco

Winner of a Gold at the Brussels World Competition, Conde Valdemar Tempranillo Blanco 2022 is a very good introduction to Tempranillo Blanco, a grape born at the end of the last century from a natural genetic mutation of a Tempranillo strain. White Tempranillo is increasingly taking center stage in Rioja. Take advantage of this opportunity to discover it from the hand of one of the pioneering wineries in its production: Valdemar, which is also one of the oldest wineries in Spain and the most important in the DOCA Rioja.

Intense aromas of tropical fruits and hints of fennel. In the mouth it is unctuous, fresh, balanced, and long.

Brand new Oaxacan Rum!

October 30, 2023  /  WineBros

Camazotz
Oaxaca, Mexico

Deep in the hills of Oaxaca, the legend of a mysterious bat creature is said to escort those of the ancient Americas into the underworld. Mysterious, yet revered, the Camazotz legend inspired sacrifices throughout the Incas and Mayans to appease this beast. This bottle aged, Oaxacan rum is steeped in tradition, and has reignited traditional “Aguardiente de Cana” to satisfy the local thirst for liquid connections to their ancestors. Camazotz Oaxacan remains true to the traditions that reverberated through ancient cultures.

Camazotz
Oaxacan Rum

Leoncio Gaspar has taken the reigns in producing a rum that is: free from pesticides, making use of locally grown sugar cane in Sierra Mixe, and fermented openly taking on natural yeasts in the hills of Oaxaca. Created by hand, Camazotz flavor is an exceptional window to view/taste Mexican heritage from anywhere you are lucky enough to find a bottle. Savory, earthy and grassy, balanced with a slight sweetness, the complexity of life is contained in a bottle like an elixir on the shelf in an apothecary.

Serve neat for an experience into the terroir of Mexico. Use as a base to discover a rollercoaster of flavors alongside citrus juices and Falernums. Camazotz is versatile and can replace most aged and/or agave spirits in classic recipes.
