WINE BROS

New from Marzae Wine!

August 14, 2024  /  WineBros

2023 Marzae Sauvage M. Struthiopteris
75% cider apple juice & pomace (porters perfection; Ashmead’s kernel; golden russet; spitzenburg); 25% wine juice & grapes (20% vidal; 80% chardonnay); 1.25 tons chardonnay (40%) & vidal (60%) skins
Massachusetts

Marzae Sauvage wines are inspired by the edible flora & fauna of New England. M. struthiopteris (fiddlehead fern) shares much looser connection to the wine itself than some of our other labels but seemed a good fit for a unique spring release. This is one of our personal favorites because we can’t think of anything else quite like it, but the results are fabulous. Concept is simple enough—we wanted to make a natural cider that was going to be robust enough to hold up well to oxidative aging. Hence a cider base made up of all the best cider apples we had to work with, layered with lots and lots of chardonnay & vidal skins, and a bit of actual wine, making for a cider with an orange wine like bite and depth. Partially barrel aged, partially amphora aged, and partly stainless steel aged, then blended together, the result is deep and tropical fruity with a smokey, earthy mezcal-like element…all coming in at just 9.5%!

Dried mango, orange, mezcal, guava, mastic.

New from Beccaris!

August 07, 2024  /  WineBros

Beccaris
Toscana, Italy

Located between Siena and Arezzo, our vineyards lie mainly on gently rolling hills ranging in altitude between 900 and 1600 ft. The soils consist mainly of marine sediments, clay and silt. The climate is typically Mediterranean, with little rainfall in the summer months.

We strive to keep tradition alive and promote ethics and sustainability in the vineyard, with parts of the vineyard already converted to organic production. Our goal is to produce excellent wines with an authentic heart.

Winemaker Lorenzo Landi was born and raised in Toscana and wine was always his passion. In 2004 he received the “Vini di Toscana” award from the Tuscany Region and in 2017 he was chosen Winemaker of the year by La Guida Essenziale ai Vini d’ Italia.

The emblem of Beccaris is a rampant Pegasus – an ancient mythological symbol which evokes the long history of our region.

2022

Toscana Rosso
100% Sangiovese

Ruby red with good violet shades. Pronounced notes of red berry fruits. Full bodied with very good balance and a pleasant finish.

Santo Prohibido Mezcal!

Santo Prohibido
Hear No Evil
Bacanora
47.5% abv

Sonora, Mexico

Chango Mezcalero is traditionally a clay vessel in the shape of a monkey, dating back to the mid-1800s. Long associated with drunkeness, it seemed an obvious decision to design a clay bottle in its image. It also served another purpose during times when selling mezcal was illegal, as the perfect vessel to hide the mezcal from the authorities as it was seen as less suspicious to contain alcohol.

Santo Prohibido celebrates Bacanora's untamed past and enduring spirit when, for the most of the 20th century, producing or selling Bacanora was illegal. Even the threat of death if caught did not deter the people of Sonora from continuing production of this sacred Sonoran spirit. To pay homage and respect to this history, Santo Prohibido commissioned a Chango Mezcalero clay bottle for its latest release. Made from agave that has grown wild and untouched in the fields of Rancho San Isidro for 90 years, Santo Prohibido is a limited production of only 300 bottles. Santo Cuviso, from 1756.
